Green Corps Summer Youth Program
The Greening of Detroit has planted more than 130,000 trees since we started putting shovels in the ground back in 1989. As the scope of our work increased, we needed help caring for the newly planted trees. In 1998, the Green Corps summer youth program was created as a way to involve youth in maintaining our expanding green spaces. This program is one of the few paid urban forestry vocational programs in the country, read more here.
Green Corps members invest time and energy in their communities, learn to become environmental stewards by watering and planting trees, cleaning up green spaces, weeding as well as harvesting crops at school and farm gardens. Throughout this program, Green Corps members have the opportunity to learn about environmental based careers and a variety of life skills along the way.
If you are interested in exploring green careers such as civil and environmental engineering, agriculture, forestry, landscaping or tree maintenance training, then this opportunity is for you!
