Green Corps Crew Leader
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Crew Leaders will mentor, manage and facilitate work for a crew of 10 Detroit youth, ages 14-18, working collaboratively on maintaining green spaces and various conservation service projects designed to build community and environmental stewardship.
Projects include park maintenance, habitat restoration, neighborhood green space revitalization, maintaining trees and urban agriculture. Crew Leaders are also responsible for training the members in conflict resolution, environmental education and assisting in the financial literacy sessions.
Hourly Wage: $18 / Hour, 40 Hours / Week
Timeline: June 26th - August 11
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age
Able to legally work in the US
Have (Possess) a valid driver's license and obtain a Chauffeur's License prior to job offer (Required)
First Aid/CPR certification preferred but not required
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience working with youth or young adults (ages 14-18)
Experience as a teacher or leader in an educational environment
Experience with environmental conservation work
Currently enrolled in or graduate of higher education
Passion for the Detroit community
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must enjoy working outdoors
Must be self-motivated, assertive, and willing to work independently & with others
Have good communication skills
Ability to maintain a safe, productive and enjoyable work environment
Must be willing to adapt to changing working conditions
Ability to work with people from a variety of backgrounds
Ability to speak Spanish preferred but not required
