Stein Park Bioswale - Cody Rouge Neighborhood

The Greening of Detroit and the Joy-Southfield Community Development Corporation installed this bioswale in 2015 as an effort to reduce flooding in the Cody Rouge neighborhood. Planted with a combination of native and landscape vegetative species, this bioswale can infiltrate 6,000 gallons of stormwater. By installing a Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) feature such as this, water is diverted away from the sewer system, thus lessening the risk of combined sewer overflows and flooding.
