Chandler Park Marshland

The Greening of Detroit partnered with the Chandler Park Conservancy to install thousands of native plants throughout the newly constructed Marshland. Located on Detroit’s east side, Chandler Park is taking strides to promote Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) by creating this 200-plus acre demonstration site.

  • The Chandler Park Marshland has the capacity to hold 2.5 million gallons of stormwater.

  • Chandler Park will be able to manage all of its stormwater on-site, relieving the sewer system of potential combined sewer overflows.

  • The native vegetation planted here will create habitat for Detroit wildlife such as nesting areas for migrating birds and support crucial pollinator populations.
