Welcome to The Greening of Detroit Blog!
Here at The Greening of Detroit, for the past 30 years we’ve been working to improve the quality of life and economic viability of Detroit, Highland Park, and Hamtramck by repurposing vacant land into healthy green space, creating a new sustainable economic model for green industries through workforce development programs, and working collaboratively with partners and communities to educate and inspire adoption of green and sustainable practices. More often than not, we’re out in the field planting trees, training the next cohort of landscaping and tree professionals, or mentoring youth in our Green Corps program. In an effort to expand our presence as a community resource, we’ve started this blog for members of The Greening staff to write about a range of topics, including, but not limited to:
Environmental Issues
Gardening
Trees!
Job Training/Workforce Development
Urban Forestry
Community Development
