Join The Greening for a day to celebrate all things Sunflowers at Lafayette Greens! Open House! Fun and Games
We will have a Sunflower Growing Contest (get ready in May/June to plant your sunflowers) Prizes and bragging rights to the folks who grow:
The Tallest Sunflower
The Biggest Seed Head
The Heaviest Seed Head
RULES
Judging will be between 1 and 3 pm. Winners will be announced at 3pm
All sunflowers in the 3 categories must be brought to the garden (no photos)
Tallest Sunflowers will be measured from bottom of the stem to top of the main stem, including seed head
Biggest seed head is measured by circumference around the head
Heaviest will be weighed and measured in pounds
All entries will be returned to the owner.

Phyllotaxis - patterns found in leaves, stems and seeds.
RULES
Send in 2 digital photos. 1 of you and your seedhead and 1 close up shot featuring your phyllostaxis pattern in your sunflower.
Open to individuals who live in the State of Michigan
Must be original work of the submitter
No more than 3 entries per person
Entries must be submitted by Saturday August 3rd
Each individual entry must contain your name, address and email address.
Entries sent to: sue@greeningofdetroit.com. Send in .PNG format. Please keep size to 5GB for each digital photo.
Judging will be based on opinions of The Greening of Detroit Judges
